Highlights in Andersen Corporation History

1904 - Founder Hans Andersen introduced mass production of window and door frames, nine years before Henry Ford's assembly line for automobiles.
1914 - Andersen Corporation introduced profit sharing and health and disability insurance.
1924 - Andersen began to pay $2 rewards to employees for their ideas on ways to save time, money and material or to improve products and production. The reward program is still in place today.
1932 - The Andersen® wood casement window was the first completely assembled, factory-made window in the industry.
1934-1952 - Narroline® double-hung and gliding windows, Andersen Windowalls® and Flexivent® windows (opening in, out or sideways) pioneered new levels of window form and function, resulting in dramatic changes in home comfort and design.
1964 - Andersen introduced its first wood gliding door.
1966 - Perma-Shield® vinyl cladding, the low-maintenance, weather-resistant exterior for solid wood window products, coupled with Andersen® advanced insulating glass, eliminated the need for storm windows, and launched an entirely new category to the window industry: the clad-wood window category.
1978 - In the company's 75th year, windows and patio doors with Perma-Shield® cladding represented 75 percent of annual sales.
1995 - Fibrex material becomes one of the leading structural window materials on the market.
